Just so everyone knows, I am not gone, just been
really busy behind the scene's. My site is not gone
either. I have just pulled a new data-line, and will
be moving the servers (hopefully for the last time!!),
and once they are moved, I'll be posting stories
again.

Kerrie wondered just what kind of casts they would be, and the apprehension made her excited all the more as she was hoping for a full body cast or hip spica, but it wasn't altogether what she expected.
Chapter 5
Kerrie knowing that she had a very early appointment to see Dr
Appleworth at his hospital Orthopedic Unit with Eric assisting, she
made sure she went to bed at 11:30 pm. Lisa also had to go to bed
early as her shooting was supposed to start at 7:00 am as well. Aware
that she wouldn't see Kerrie for about a month in her normal
condition, Lisa wished Kerrie good luck and hugged her good night,
and both retired to bed.
The alarm buzz jolted both awake at 5:00. Eric very soon knocked
on the door as he was advised to do so, and helped Kerrie get
dressed. She knew she didnt have to worry about make-up and all the
other things she normally did for preparation in the morning so
significant time was saved. She was ready at about 5:30 and Lisa was
just about ready to get up, but Eric and Kerrie had to leave
immediately for the appointment. They arrived at the hospital at
6:15 and filled out paperwork about her medical history and had other
preparations started such as shaving certain parts and blood work-
ups. Kerrie was put on a gurney at 7:00 and was given a sedative so
all the procedures could start. The role to be played was that of a
teenage girl who had been involved in a pedestrian/ auto accident and
Kerrie was being cast as the pedestrian. The scene called for her to
be on life support in an intensive care unit with multiple fractures
and a respirator. Since most of the scenes would be shot in the
hospital environment of the character's family and boyfriend visiting
her and nurse and doctors tending her, everything needed to be as
realistic as possible and Kerrie had to be as immobile as possible.
The first procedure was to insert an indwelling Foley catheter
to expel wastes. After that, an IV was inserted to supply Kerrie with
the nutrients she would need while basically unconscious for the 4
weeks. Then, the casts were to be applied. Long arm casts of white
standard fiberglass were applied to her arms from the mid-fingers
almost to the armpits, and a double hip spica was applied that went
from the toes of both legs to just above her breasts and a bar went
across the knees. Then she was to be intubated with a endotracheal
breathing apparatus, which went down her throat, and windpipe, as
Kerrie was administed a paralyzing agent that rendered her immobile
from the neck down and would almost shut her ability to breathe on
her own. Kerrie was totally unconscious as all this was done and
therefore unaware of absolutely anything around her. She knew,
beforehand, after all, that all footage of her scenes would be
available, and even the medical procedures were filmed for her own
personal collection, plus all casts would be given to her as well,
once the scenes were shot and Kerrie was restored to her normal
self.
Chapter 6
Throughout the time Kerrie was "out" Lisa came in every day for
at least 5 minutes to an hour, with Eric to check up on her. As the
5th week came, the doctor said, Ok, let's bring Kerrie out of her
induced coma. It'll be a while before she's 100% as she has to start
breathing in a normal pattern again and of course she'll be very
stiff from her prolonged immobilization. I'm calling 2 nurses in to
assist me and we should have her in the recovery room within 6 hours,
if all goes well." The nurses came down from their break and
immediately started weaning Kerrie from the respirator and her
endotracheal tube. Kerrie started breathing, shallowly, at first then
as time progressed, with stronger breaths after every five minute
increments, as the drugs dosages were lowered. Finally, she opened
her eyes and tried to talk, after about 4 hours.
Her voice was extremely raspy and laborious and she couldn't
help coughing, from the reflexive action resulting from the tube
being in her throat for that extended time. "What day is it?,"
Kerrie whispered. Lisa replied;"It's Wednesday, August 10. You;ve
been unconscious since July 3rd". You're going home in a couple of
days once they know you can breathe ok". After a short while Kerrie
fell asleep again, exhausted from the strain of being brought back to
consciousness and slept fitfully until later that night. Eric and
Lisa went back to the hotel room and he removed her casts as her
shooting was through from the scene filming and Lisa was tired of
being helpless. The green LATS's were neatly cut in half and relined
for future use, as Lisa wanted to keep them for souvenirs as she did
love them for the attention they brought her. About 500 various men
had asked her out and about 80 people outside of the film crew asked
to take pictures of her!
Meanwhile, at about 2:00 am, Kerrie woke with a start at the
hospital. She remembered suddenly about her mother who was in the
nursing home had wanted a birthday party made for her as her
condition was worsening and Kerrie had forgotten all about her own
mother amid all the excitement! Even though her mother was semi-
lucid, she had her moments of mental clarity here and there. So,
totally forgetting about her own temporary disabled condition, Kerrie
tried to get out of bed, thinking it was her own bed! Kerrie
carelessly and quickly slid out of bed with her recently freed from
the cast stiff feet. The cast wasalso being held for safekeeping but
even if it was on her still, it would not have helped. Kerrie
immediately crashed down to the hard tile floor, her weak legs
snapping at the tibias from all of her weight being put on them
awkwardly, and her right forearm with her index and middle and ring
fingers snapping as well, being right under her. Her head also hit
the hard tile rapidly because of her weakness, knocking her out
instantly. An orderly making the rounds at that very moment, hearing
the dull thud, checked on her and seeing her broken body on the
floor, summoned for help immediately.

minutes, but with Kerrie's Injured limbs being jolted in the
turbulance during flight, pain shot up and down her limbs reminding
her of how badly injured shew actually was. Kerrie enjoyed, however,
the royal treatment she received from the First_Class flight
attendants as well as fellow male passengers, each with the desire to
meet the casted beauty and not just to sign one of her 4 casts but to
do much much more. Kerrie remained friendly and diplomatic but was
ever loyal to her dear boyfriend Eric, whom she knew was too close of
a match to her unique ways than to risk losing him by cheating on
him.
Three rough hours later, the plane touched down and the crew
helped Kerrie into a wheelchair and Lisa wheeled her, with Eric
following, into the Airport terminal. They pitched in together and
rented a minivan so Kerrie could fit comfortably as her legs
certainly weren't going to bend with the long leg casts on both of
them. All the paperwork was arranged for rental, and before they
parted, the car rental agency rep asked the inevitable question "And
what happened to you?" to Kerrie. Kerrie didn't want to be seen as a
foolish klutz by telling the cute male rep what really happened so
she told him she had been struck by a minivan and lived to talk about
it. She flashed a demure sexy grin at him but thankfully Eric didn't
see it, after the rep whose name turned out to be Andrew told her he
worked for an Orthopedic Supply company in the recent past but was
let go because of missing supplies, he hinted with a wink. He
promptly gave Kerrie his business card which she stuck clumsily in
her pocketbook with one her casted arms.
They drove to Burlington where the first stop was the nursing
home where Kerri's mother was laying on her deathbed. She had
completed a DNR (do not rescuscitate) order in case of Cardiac arrest
before she had fallen so deathly ill. Fading in and out of lucidity,
the staff knew that her time was very near. Kerrie's mother, whose
name was Kayla, sddenly noticed Kerrie's 4 casted limbs and tied to
ask Kerrie what happened to her as any loving mother would, but
instead, the heart monitor displayed several last huge spikes in the
heartrate then the inevitable flat line. Kerrie flet guilty that she
was a possibly proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" but was
comforted by one of her sisters who know it it wasn't then that Kayla
died, it would have been within a few hours anyway as Kayla's heart
was extremely bad.
The funeral was held the next day, and Eric took Kerrie from the
Large Irish Catholic Church to the cemetary where Kayla was to be
buried. As the vehicles left the cemetary, and Kerrie and her
boyfriend rolled onto the highway known as both Interstate 95 and
Route 128 , Eric's tiny Toyota, with Kerrie stretched out across the
back seat, was struck by a tractor trailer truck, whose driver was
distracted by a pen falling in the cab from the dashboard to the
floor. The trck, which was at a left angle of Eric's car, veered
right abruptly into the subcompact car, crushing it and killing Eric
instantly. The part of the car where Kerrie was laying, in the back
seat, was caught beneath the frame of the behemoth truck and Kerrie
was uninjured, except from the traumatic shock of seeing her dear
boyfriend taken from her so suddenly . Kerrie was unconscious and was
taken by an ambulance to the hospital, after the astonished
paramedics found her alive amid the tangled wreck of the tiny Toyota
which in a weird twist of fate, saved her life because the higher
minivan, which was being driven by Lisa, would most certainly have
been crushed in its entirety.

The phone rang suddenly near Lisa's bed, jolting her awake from a pleasant dream in which she had casts on all 4 limbs and she was with some pretty woman who she didn't recognize. Wiping her eyes groggily, she answered the phone. Hearing the head nurse yell excitedly "There's been an accident with Kerrie here at the hospital! We need you here immediately!" Lisa became alert quickly and her heart started beating rapidly . "Oh my God! I hope my dear Kerrie is OK!!! Her hands, wrists and elbows were still stiff from wearing the casts and she couldn't get dressed without significant assistance. Because she didn't like men to help her in this condition, she called Edie using the phone book selection on her cellphone. Edie was very alarmed as she was starting to like Kerrie as if she were her very own daughter and had never had an underling so compliant and cooperative as Kerrie. They ran to the hotel garage and got into Edie's Mercedes and rushed off to the hospital. At night the traffic in Los Angeles was very light so what took an hour daytime to go 15 miles took just 15 minutes at 3:00 am. They went to the hospital emergency room where Kerrie was transferred.
Kerrie had splints on both legs and her arms and had an anti-swelling ice cushion on her head. She was listed in serious condition but Lisa and Edie were assured that the injuries were not life-threatening. She would be in the hospital not for just the remaining day as scheduled, but possibly at least another 3 weeks! Lisa and Edie stayed in the hospital for the whole day as they felt terrible about what happened and Edie especially felt guilty about everything as the role for Kerrie in the film as an unconscious accident victim had led directly to Kerrie being an actual one! After a few days, casts were again put on Kerrie's legs and right arm, this time all in pink fiberglass over plaster. Thankfully, there was no skull fracture, just a concussion which subsided rather quickly and Kerrie's hospital departure would be in the best case scenario 3 weeks, but she would be in the 3 casts for at least 12 weeks. Once the time for her hospital release came up, she asked Eric to put a matching pink-over-plaster long arm cast on her left arm so it would match her right hand one. Dr Appleworthy was notified and he gave the approval as he knew the kind of person Kerrie was. Edie had been assured by Kerrie that she wouldn't file any lawsuit, as she wouldn't want to mess up this opportunity of a lifetime, and Edie in turn assured her that work could be found for Kellie in her condition so that there would be a constant cashflow for Kerrie and she wouldn't feel a burden on Edie. Edie arranged for Kerrie to be flown home to Massachusetts to see her ailing mother for what might be the last time, and Kerrie prepared herself to face her relatives, who would understand an accident, but would not be so sympathetic about being cast in Hollywood as a casted person, or even less so, just for fun!

Kerrie was traumatized beyond her wildest nightmares. In the stretch
of one mere hour, she had buried her mother and now, the man she
hoped to marry someday was laying in a morgue, as a horribly mangled
and crushed corpse instead of the handsome muscular man she always
thought of. After many counseling sessions and a long grueling
physical therapy regimen, Kerrie was released from the hospital into
the care of Lisa. Both now had no casts on any limbs and Kerrie for
now didn't want to see a cast anytime in the near future.
Lisa had long ago explained the terrible situation to Edie, who was
fortunately very sympathetic and sent checks to cover a very
grateful Kerrie's expenses. Edie made it clear that with Kerrie out
of work and Edie not having her star employee to "work" for her in
her unique role , she had literally lost several million dollars in
business revenue from contracting studos and Edie made it very clear
that there would have to be a lawsuit against the trucking company
for lost business and wages as well as pain and suffering.
The business had been in a tailspin for a while before Kerrie started
with them after its former star employee Kim developed a spinal
disorder and became a wheelchair bound quadriplegic. The company was
finally in the black when Kerrie's accident happened and all business
froze.
A top notch Los Angeles personal injury lawyer was retained and
the lawsuit was successful. It turned out that the trucking company
had hired a trucker who was driving impaired and admitted that his
cocaine stash fell to the floor which distracted him and thus the
accident happened. The cocaine was never found and only came into
knowledge trhrough the trucker's admission of guilt because it had burned up when
the truck cabin split and the cocaine came into contact with the
truck's diesel engine which quickly destroyed it.
The case was settled for 30 million dollars which was split 3 ways,
Edie received one half, and the lawyer and Kerrie each were getting one quarter of
the settlement. With $7.5 million in the bank, and taxfree due to
exemptions and helped psychologically with expert counseling, Kerrie was now comfortable about being casted again, and
this was 2 and a half years after the accident. Stand-ins were hired
in the interim on the advice of the lawyer who turned out to be a
caster himself, referring people and friends he knew from the caster community who wanted to be recreational casters and be paid for it!

Kerrie's Casting Chapter 10
Edie, after a legnthy chat with the new Orthopedic Supply salesman, had completed the paperwork for her largest order yet. All kinds of braces and casting supplies were in the order but the biggest and most delightful surprse was yet to come for Edie, Lisa and especially for Kerrie. Kerrie, on crutches with a right long leg cast and left short leg cast, and Lisa, with both arms in long arm thumb/finger spicas came into the room where Edie and the sales rep were sitting and that lovely grin came across Kerrie's face as she recognized him, from the car rental agency, nearly 3 years since she returned to Boston to say goodbye to her mother.
"Andrew!" she exclaimed. What are you doing here!!! He said likewise and after spending awhile updateing each other. Andrew , after seeing Kerrie that time in her long leg and long arm casts and in the wheelchair, grew wistful about his old orthopedic sales job from which he was fired. While not getting along with his boss and the boss using some deappeared supplies as an excuse, Andrew did enjoy taking those missing supplies and sometimes casted himself in small casts such as SAC's and also put a few on his girlfiend Misty who enjoyed the restriction of movement . Andrew had tried to reimburse the company but never could succeed due to accounting complications. Therefore, knowing he couldn't go back to his old place, but needing be in that same line of work again, he called a larger firm Johnson's and managed to get his favorite activity back due to his handsome All-American looks and his disarming personal charisma. The firm, needing a new rep in Los Angeles two and ahalf years after hiring Andrew asked him if he's be willing to relocate. He said yes as he always wanted to be in the Los Angeles area. After building some new accounts and retaining a few old ones, Andrew became the top representative in Los Angeles!
Kerry and Andrew shortly agreed on a date and what better place for a publicking than at Disneyland! Kerry's current role involved a medical patient with a bone disease that was progressing so just one day before the Disneyland date, Kerrie had to have her casts changed. She was now put into two blue long leg casts with the knees bent 40 degrees and spread fairly far apart with a spreader bar between the legs and a double shoulder spica! Andrew happily loaded her into a wheelchair and did everything for her, taking care of her sanitary needs as well as feeding her, as her arms were now totally immobilized down to midway down to her fingers!

Kerrie had an awesome time at Disneyland with all the attention given to her and even though plenty of those people gawking at the sight of Kerrie in the wheelchair with 4 cast on included many guys, Andrew was proud nevertheless because her knew those men shared the same interest he had in those very same casts! Kerrie and Andrew decided to let it go for another week and then Kerrie would have a new assignment with Lisa with another major accident scenario. Andrew, with Kerrie's large salary was able to procure much more supplies and in an honest way, wven though it wouln't really matter as his girlfriend, in her job, was always going to be in casts until she could no longer do it physically or until the studio decided that she couldn't play the roles anymore. Both knew that with Kerrie being only 25, that situation was still years away.
Edie, meanwhile, wanted Lisa to play the role of a bombing victim in light of recent terrorist attacks and a demand for stories and information about them. Thiis would be a straight acting role and since Lisa was Jewish and looked the part more than Kerrie, Lisa was chosen. Much preparation was needed. The role was sending her from portraying a healthy young 18 year old Israeli girl to a seriously maimed 20 year old and the ordeal she and her family had to go through. Lisa first had her "normal scenes" filmed, which took about 2 weeks for about 20 minutes of footage which built up to the disaster, then the preparation began. Special effects contact lenses were made which mimicked both the outer appearance of a blind person and made those effects very real to the wearer. Lisa went into the dressing room with the special effects consulting doctors, who ased Lisa to remove her normal contact lenses. Then the new ones were placed on her eyes. Lisa was astonished at how real they seemed. She exclaimed "Who turned off the lights!!??" The special effects optometrist, named Goldie Havens, replied,"No one turned off the lights. The new contact lenses, which I just put on your eyes, are specially made to be totally opaque, and have a wider surface area to prevent any light to strike any part of the eye! "Wow, Lisa said, this is totally terrifying. I would never wish blindness on anyone, seeing this!"
Next, Edie had Andrew serve as the new Othopedic Technician and he had to work in concert with an Orthotist-Prostheticist. A special brace was made by first making a body-cast of Lisa's torso so that the exact measurements and fit could be otained. after the mould was created, the harness was built that would hold Lisa's arms very tight to her body, over which body suit mimicking her actual body but with stumps instead of arms over the harness. The whole contraption was ready within 2 days, and Lisa had to wear it for the duration of filming in order to get the "feel" of a high DAK amputee. To add the finishing touch, 2 long leg casts were applied to Lisa's legs with toe platforms. The filming began to Lisa had to endure this for 4 weeks.

Lisa confided to Kerrie on the very first day the special orthosis was put on her that she always wanted to experience the feel on an amputee, having seen many and actually having a female DSD (double shoulder disarticulation) amputee as a classmate throughaout high school who became a friend to Lisa. The girl, named Cassandra, had been born in the Midwest, in Kansas and had lost both arms at the shoulder in an accident involving a threshing machine. Cassandra was 12 and was trying to untangle a few sticks that were blocking other pieces from going into the machine. The next thing she knew, she got tangled and pulled into the machine. Before Cassandra could even react, her arms were already torn by the blades. Her older brother Rolfe rescued her just by being near enough to quickly shut the machine and use his shirt and pants as tourniquets to stop the heavy bleeding which, without his quick reaction, would have been fatal. Once Casssandra was well enough after being hospitalized, her family had to move to the Boston area to help with her rehabilitation and to get her a special prosthetic device which was battery powered and had artificial arms with hooks, That went around her body and was very heavy and when Casssandra befriended Lisa, she invited her over her house and showed her how it worked and how she took it off and put in on.
When Edie interviewed Lisa for the part, she asked Lisa if she was familiar with any one who was an amputee and had to wear prosthetics or use other assistive devices. With Lisa's positive attitude and comments and background, Edie knew she had a lock on the part. Wearing the prosthesis was an ordeal as it weighed about twenty pounds, had tight latex fabric which had a very lifelike appearance of skin, which clung tightly around the frame and Lisa's torso. Her arms were held behing her lower back in a very tight brace with very secure straps held by velcro. The arms of the prosthesis which mimicked stumps were allowed movement by myoelectric motors with sensors which picked up signals by brain activity. The device was kept on all day and was only removed at night by the technical crew. As the weeks of filming wore on, the character was shown progressing through rehab and then her eventual daily life as an additional prosthesis was introduced, an actual pair of hooks which fit over the prosthetic "stumps" that Lisa was wearing!
As Lisa was delighted to see the pair of hooks, as she had always wanted to have her own pair with which to pretend, so she asked Edie and the producer if she could keep the whole contraption, to which they said yes of course, as it was custom made and even though producing it cost $54,000, it would have been tossed out as "junk" because no one else would have had use for it! After filming was completed, it was given to her in a box which she brought home, and of course, showed Kerrie how to use it. A few days after being shown the hooks, Kerrie wanted her own pair to "play around" with and asked Edie if she could have her own pair made. Kerrie offered to pay for it as she had enough money for a less expensive version that would fit over her existing hands. Arrangements were made with the consulting prostheticist and a pair was made for Kerrie, which were made out of a cast made of her hands. The basic pieces went over her hands to just below her elbows, covering them completely then attached to hinges which led to upper arm parts, at the same time hiding her actual upper forearms and elbows and being restrictive enough rotationally to mimic a DAE (double above elbow) amputee. Kerrie enjoyed using it and wore it on trips out of state in between filming casting scenes and became proficient enough that many people thought she was an actual double arm amputee!

All the while as Lisa was filming her amputee story parts, Kerrie, of course, had some of the casts applied by Andrew removed after one week, as promised. The casts, all 4 of which were made of blue fiberglass, did not fit the new role she had to do for the next month which was a story bas on the true story of a bicycle accident victim who had been hit by a van and had broken all four limbs. All four old casts were removed as scenes had to be filmed of Kerrie bicycling but it was seen very quickly that a stand-in for Kerrie had to be used, as her four limbs were too stiff and atrophied to do much physical activity, even standing! So, new casts were made in a more traditional manner but again going from toes to groin on her legs, bent slightly at the knees and again on both arms from the base of her fingers to her armpits. The color mode was changed from plain blue to a stars and stripes format for the Fourth of July holiday ,and Kerrie agreed to wear all four casts from July 1 to September 10 as she was also going to be a centerpiece for 2 convention exhibiting her company's work and what better color than red and white stripes on one side's casts and the other side white stars on a blue background!
The summer had the most fun for Kerrie as the hospital scenes were done with her in treatment, traction, then the casts being applied and finally her release from the hospital and how the character's miserable summer went as the van driver was never caught and the girls's character could not tend to her pet horses. Kerrie loved the interaction with the horses, petting them and trying to feed them as best as she could. The filming lasted for all of July but the scenes were always shot in the morning and Kerrie had the afternoon's and evenings to be with Andrew, who took her just about everywhere in an elevating legrest wheelchair and the flamboyant casts attracted attention everywhere. With the peak tourist season at hand, hundreds of people took pictures of Kerrie with her red, white and blue casts and, of course, at the convention, Kerrie sat in the same wheelchair at her company's booth in the convention hall with Edie, answering questions and posing for countless photos and videocameras. Edie answered the questions which had the business aspect of their segment of the motion picture industry and Kerrie answered the questions involving the human aspect and the day to day activity and inactivity.
Even though a lot of people especially the fitness buffs, were not too thrilled to be immobile knowing about the risk of atrophy and even worse, the risk of blood clots from the immobilization, a lot of young people in high school and college signed up for internships which allowed for short term periods of being in casts and having an acting part in a movie or television show . One by one, each one told Kerrie how much they like the sigght of the cast on someone of the opposite sex and certain people did have a liking for the restriction on movement the casts created. The career fair that occurred first, duting the Fourth of July holiday also gave a little bonus: those who had a positive response were allowed to have a cast or two applied by Andrew for the next few days, or week which he agrred to remove, at the cost of only the supplies, paid for by credit card or cash! 25 People had casts applied, as follows:
10 people had one short arm cast applied, on their non-dominant limb,
(5 men and 5 women)
7 people had one short leg cast applied , on usually the left leg, so they could still drive,
(4 men, 3 women)
4 people had a long arm cast applied to their non dominant arm
(3 women, 1 man)
2 people had both arms in casts
(one woman, one man)
2 people had both legs in casts, and rented a wheelchair
(two women)
Kerrie noticed that the ones who had the more restrictive casts were women, who did it at the behest of their boyfriend, or were the more flamboyant type, who like more attention.
At the trade show involving other contractors within the motion picture industry, done on Labor Day Weekend, Kerrie did fairly much the same thing, but Andrew was instead assigned to showing his own skills while being paid by the respective interested company,
and casted that perosn for the day at their request, but only short arm casts, strictly, were done, to limit any bad feelings the other comapny might have for loss of productivity of their employee.

Just as suddenly summer came, it was past and the Labor Day Weekend passed by just as quickly. The Labor Day Convention booked 15 solid new clients who needed someone to stand in with casts or braces or be available for any other medical situation, and 25 others were tentative. Kerrie absolutely loved her quadruple set of casts of the stars on blue background for her left side anfd the red and white stripes on her right side. Nonethe less, casts being casts, Kerrie knew she had a major problem and all the money in the world would not solve it. She knew that she could hardly walk prior to having this set of casts applied 2 months ago, and needed a look-alike stand-in just to film the bicycle riding scenes and her limbs were even more atrophied and stiff than even before. Her new Orthopedic doctor ,Dr. Shepherd, told her the bad news: She would either have to quit her job and undergo at least a year of intense, painful, arduous physical therapy to regain merely 75 to 80 percent of her former muscle tone and mobility, and at best still have to use a cane, or at the least, crutches the rest of her life, or, if she decided to continue with her "career" at a stand in cripple/ orthopedic patient, she would be confined to a wheelchair the rest of her life, but it was her decision.
Kerrie had to debate this and plan her whole life now. She knew the money was excellent, being paid indefinitely $1000 per day now with a guaranteed pension far better than anything she could get in the corporate world outside of the motion picture industry plus allowances for inflation if she continued in this capacity but have her future consisting of being confined to a wheelchair for life at the mere age of 26, or , as her alternative was given,retire, go on disability, void her contract which still had 14 years to go until she could retire with full benefits, forfeiting those benefits instead for the ability to walk in a limited capacity and only get $1000 per month from Social Security Disability, which was effectively 1/30th of what she would get by continuing to work as a cripple! After a couple of days mulling over it, she called Dr Shepherd, Edie and all of their respective attorneys, deciding to go ahead with her career as a pretend cripple/orthopedic patient and stipulated in writing that she knew she would no longer be able to walk ever again if she continued to to work as she chose and would "hold harmless" Edie and her her production company from being sued due to the loss of ability to walk or other daily tasks. Lisa also heartily agreed to due the same being of one mind with her best friend Kerrie. With the assurance that this was done, Edie was now able to give Kerrie and Lisa a 25% raise, and asked her old stand in Kim if she wanted to come out of "retirement". Kim was still only 32 so she agreed as she needed the money and because she was as close to Edie as Kerrie and Lisa were, she agreed to the same terms as well. Kim, as explained earlier, had multiple sclerosis so she was already confined to a wheelchair for life so it didn't matter. At this point casts may as well have been footwear for her at this time!
All three now were booked to play 3 friends who were on a small airplane that crashes and they are the lone survivors. The casts were, of course, going to be applied by Andrew who was on cloud nine knowing he was going to see his gorgeous blonde girlfriend with casts just about EVERY DAY FOR FOURTEEN MORE YEARS!!!!! And her 2 co-workers were just as easy on the eyes as Kerrie was especially with thir assortment of casts, braces and orthotics!! The casting sessions for the 3 women would have been torturous for someone just looking at it as a job, taking over 15 hours but Andrew was as fresh and awake at the 13th hour as he was when he first started the session. 4 coffees got him through the final 2 hours. Kerrie had Long arm casts made of basic white for "broken radius and ulnas" on both sides and a hinged long leg cast on her right leg for the "broken kneecap and ankle" and a singleleg spica that went from her chest down to her toes of her left leg for the "broken femur amd jumerus". Lisa had a contraption made that was similar to that of Boxing Helena, wherethat actress played aquadruple ampitee, but Lisa instead played a double hip disarticulation amputee and double below amputee. Hook prosthetics were made that went over her real hands after a mold was made of her forearms and a special bed was made that had a hole in the middle where her real legs sat on a frame below comfortably and an orthotic device was molded that appeared to go from her midsection down to where her torso would appear to "end" right where the legs would normally begin, with no stumps remaining. It was anatomically correct and when Lisa saw herself in the mirror, she quickly turned red as a beet as she appeared "naked" from the chest down even though in reality she had bikini underwear on the whole time below the whole in the bed, where her still very real legs actually rested!
Finally, Kim was put in a double shoulder spica that went halfway down to all her fingers and a double hip spica from her breasts down past her toes with toe platforms! She was also given the special contact lenses that overlay the pupils and scleras that altered her real her blue eye color to appear green and because they were totally opaque, gave her the exact senation of blindness as she character had lost her eyesight in the movie, as weel as having had broken femurs, tibias and fibulas and humeruses and radiuses and ulnas amid other broken bones!

The filming of the movie bgan very shortly after the casts were applied to Kerrie and Lisa. They were told by Edie that they would probably be in these most confining casts yet for about 8 weeks as that was the minimum duration needed in order to complete the scenes that contained the female characters with the casts. All the other scenes were to be filmed afterward and Kerrie planned to take a nice long vacation, maybe with 2 long leg casts on and nothing more, and take a trip down to Florida with Lisa, Andrew and Lisa's new boyfriend. At least 75 percent of the cast scene filming was complete when it was learned that a fire had burned the storage facility where all the archived video was stored and there were no back-up archives!
Even though Kerrie and Lisa really enjoyed the confinement and immobility of not being able to move their arms or legs for extremely long periods of time, Kerrie took it really hard now because she was finally realizing that the more haer arms and legs were casted, the less mobility she would have afterward and each physical therepy regimen she undertook after each cast seesion was becoming ever more difficult, painful and strenuous. This latest disaster meant another 2 months of cast confinement for both of them. Sure, the casts would have to be changed to allow for the always-occurring atrophy but eight weeks was eight weeks and Kerrie did have her mind set on being in Florida during the summer and not fall, when hurricane season set in. Two cast changes were made, and she had nice long hot baths in between each of the times the new casts were applied, to eb clean, to eliminate the dead skin tissue and to refresh herself. A person had to be with both of them each time the bath was taken as neither Kerrie nor Lisa had ANY strength in their arms or legs to climb out of the bath or even lift themselves out of the water should they have happened to sink underneath the water to much and risk drowning. At long last, the filming ended and all of the appliances and casts were removed.
A few days later, Kerrie had Andrew apply 2 long leg casts made with green fiberglass and Lisa wore her favorite 2 plaster long arm thumb/finger spica casts. Kerrie booked a flight to Florida for 4 around labor day weekend and all four headed down to Florida's Disney World.

Kerrie had a nightmare about going on the flight, with scenes of flooding and isolation but figured to herselfm what could happen? As they boarded the flight, Lisa finally had the time for her boyfriend to aquaint himself with Kerrie, and Andrew. His name was Steve, and he had grown up in Florida himself! This was why Kerrie had chosen Florida as her destination as Lisa lobbied her heavily to go there. Originaly Kerrie wanted to head for Hilton Head in the Carolinas as she had heard it was a great resort, especially for the newly wealthy, but Steve's family were wealthy themselves, owning a major film studio and they had a large mansion at Palm Beach! His father built the business from the ground up in the 1950's and with the ever increasing popularity of TV, he had virtually guaranteed growth for more tv shows and commercials. The never ending flow of money gave Steve the luxury of being able to have any toy he wanted as a little boy and to have the best car in High school.
He had a 1996 Lexus when it was brand new, while in high school and had just traded it in for a 2005 Maybach, made by Daimler Benz, paid for in cash!. His introduction to Lisa came while the filming of their last movie was in hiatus and the crew had taken Lisa out for a ride in her halo brace and hook prosthetics, which went over her real hands, minus the lower amputation simulator. Steve was exiting the car dealership next door to the restaurant when he happened to glance over to look at the tempertature indicator on the side of the building and he spied Lisa with her movie crew. As a man with a lifelong fascination with casts and braces, Steve came over and pretended to ask for directions just so he could have a reason to talk to the girl with the halo brace and hook prosthetics!
As it turned out, Lisa explained to Steve that she wasn't a real amputee but the hooks were merely very realistic props and she had to keep them on so she could get used to them for her role in the movie. She showed them how they worked with the shoulder harness and cables and explained how they were molded over her real hands, which she couldn't move at all, as if a cast were covering them. After Steve related that he also had a young female cousin he also was a double arm amputee and hook wearer and he always had a crush on her, Steve talked about himself, telling her who she was. The whole crew knew what his company was and several of them had actually worked for his company so he was able to mix rght in with the group. One thing led to another and Lisa and Steve hit it off, especially when she found out he was Jewish just like herself, as she saw the diamond-encrusted Star of David hanging on the chain around his neck. He asked her out and they like each other more and more. Finally he decided to have her meet his folks in Florida and thus the trip was arranged, with her friends as Steve liked Kerrie almost as much as he did Lisa.

Kerrie and Lisa arrived within 3 hours of their departure from Boston's Logan Airport, after having one delay after another as the now heavily guarded airport had police and security types everywhere, but among them, security wasn't the only thing on their mind. Being two very attractive young women, Kerrie and Lisa were certainly noticed by quite a few male security guards, a few of which were entranced with the casts the girls were wearing, the two green long leg casts which were very well molded to Kerrie's still very long and shapely legs, now virtually useless due to long term disuse and atrophy, and Lisa's two long arm plaster casts which rendered her helpless as her thumbs were both covered and her fingers halfway to her ginger joints on both hands, which were accentuated with 3 inch long fingernails Lisa grew that were decorated with all sorts of nail art and jewelry. Because of their helplessness, they were accompanied by Steve, Lisa's boyfriend who helped Lisa do all of her personal tasks and by Andrew who had a constant erection as he accompanied Kerrie, pushing her wheelchair, which gave him a fabulous view of her long leg casts from over Kerrie's head, with her toenails painted a sexy shade of pink. Quite a number of guards asked the girls what happened to them and they gave the made up story of joint disease resulting from a sequence of catastrophic accidents which had caused the multiple fractures, including a failed parachute jump and being run over by their own SUV which had slipped out of gear.
Finally they made it to the Orlando Hilton where Steve's parents booked them for the first few nights until they could make their house handicapped accessible. The weather forecast called for a fierce hurricane of category 5 strength which is the strongest type, and everyone was urged to evacuate. Being the hardy type and having a very strong thirst for adventure and living dangerously, Steve was not about to give in to the dire report of the horrible weather and the girls and Andrew all concurred, that they would all stick together and ride it out. After two days in the hotel, Steve and Andrew helped Kerrie and Lisa get ready and they all went in Steve's new 2005 Maybach, withKerrie riding in the back seat, sitting sideways, of course, with her casted legs resting across Lisa's and Andrew's laps.

The ride in the ultraluxurious Maybach was very smoothe and pleasant, as expected for a car the costs over $100,000.00. So, as Kerrie and the others feel the car suddenly jolt and have the rear serve to the side, their hearts went into their mouths as they all realized simultaneously THE HURRICANE ARRIVED!!! Steve shouted out loudly "Don't worry, we'll get their safe and sound to my folks' place!" but within a few minutes, the roar of the hurricane's fierce winds grew ever louder and soon enough, they paid for their foolhardiness. The car was grapped by a sudden powerful gust, which forced it into the path of a dumptruck going the opposite direction on route 1! Steve could not control the car as it defied his every strength he applied to a steering wheel. Their was a hjorrible sound of the car smashing, steel bending, window smashing and everyone toosed in various directions as the truck collided with the expensive luxury Maybach auto, which was no match for the over ten-ton truck. Everything went black and in what seemed like seconds, Kerrie awoke, with a haze over her vision and unable to move anything. Kerrie could vaguely make out the shape of a woman in white and tried to talk, but all she could manage was a "mmmmmmmfffffffhhhhppnnnddd" sound. The nurse in the intensive care unit, however,understood, as she had seen this so many times with severely injured trauma patients. Realizing Kerrie was in very severe pain and was not prepared for the horrific news, she tried to inform Kerrie gently, saying, "You've been in a very bad car accident, we're not sure yet how your friends will be, but you've re-broken both legs (the nurse had assumed theat Kerrie's legs were broken because of the shattered casts Kerrie was wearing when she was brought into the hspital) and your arms were severly shattered as well. You've fractured your spine in four places, your neck and 18 ribs as well as both hips and your jaw is wired because of upper and lower mandible fractures which caused th loss of most of your teeth. You also have several skull fractures. You've been on the critical list because of all these injusreies for two weeks now and yu were in a medically induced coma to prevent swelling of the brain due to the skull fractures".
Kerrie was able, despite her severe injuries, to absorb the information and again tried to talk, "hkkkmmmmmmfrrrrrrdssssnnnnnnn". Again the well-versed nurse understood and replied, " We found your wallet and notified your agents who we understand act as your next-of-kin and we told them of your condition. Edie has been here since day one of your hospitalization, but we're afraid o tell you that she's had a mild heartattack due to stress and is hospitalized right now!"
Kerrie practically fainted, passing out from the devastating news of her condition coupled with the effects of the high dosage of demerol painkillers which had been administered to her. She again woke up about two days later, only to find out that both Steve and Andrew were killed in the accident, their bodies crushed by the dumptruck and Lisa had to have both legs above the knees and her right arm amputated at the shoulder and left arm above the wrist. She broke down sobbing and tried to mumble loudly "awrrrrrrwwwwwwwsssssrrrrr". The nurse told her, "You'll be able to see her in about 4 more days, as she is still in psych due to depression". Kerrie, with her head immobilzed in a minerva cast which was basically incorporated into a full body cast, sunk her eyes sadly.
The four days went by and finally Kerrie had a few visitors. Edie was walking in, in her hospital gown, and was pushing poor Lisa in her wheelchair. Kerrie looked at her with pity but with sisterly longing and they all wept together. As Kerrie couldn't tale but Lisa could, depite her own very severe injuries, she tried to cheer up Kerrie, saying, "don't worry, Kerrie! You'll get better and will be able to go home in 4 weeks and I'll be fitted with artificial legs and arms, and I'll even have a real pair of hooks! Kerrie knew that "better' was relative, and she knew that even with intense physical therapy. she'd be confined to a respirator and wheelchair, being a C3 quadriplegic for the rest of her life. She glumly told Edie the she'd have to retire, but Edie replied, "not to worry!, you've gave us your all so we'll be putting you up in a mansion with 24 hour round the clock personal service. You deserve it and this will be for life. My company and my people love you and will always appreciate what you've done for us!" Kerrie knew her future was grim but she accepted this with tremendous gratitude as she feared being stuck for life in a nursing home with elderly people sitting alone in a corner staring off into space. She just hoped some man would come again into her life, as she'd lost two loves at a very young age.

Kerrie had been kept unconscious by a special medical research team for 35 years in a state of suspended animation. She agreed to sign the permission papers as she had now become an amputee and could no longer enjoy wearing casts plus her fiancee and girlfriend were both dead in the horrible accident.
In what seemed an instant, Kerrie felt her eyes opening and it seemed no time had elapsed. She cried out in a raspy voice, " I thought I was going to be kept unconscious for 25 hears!!!" to which a soft female reply was "Yes, it is now 2038 and we now have the ability to renew your life as you would wish it!!! The nurse continued, "Kerrie, the world considers you to be a hero and an example for our world that you were willing to be a human guinea pig just to feel the experiences an actual patient would feel who would need to wear casts. So, because of the circumstances involved, the government, with the strong encouragement of the president, decided to pay for all of your hospital expenses and ensuing treatments!"
Kerrie was now shown what was to happen. Medical technology had advanced to a point wear DNA could be taken from a person's body, and given a complete probramming of that individual's gemome, could regenerate body parts from individual cells! Kerrie was wheeled downa long corridor and into deep underground part of the hospital where she was shown a pair of actual legs which were identical to her own long sexy legs of her 20's. Kerrie was then shown a mirror to reassure her that she hadn't aged much due to the suspended animation she was kept in. In the mirror, Kerrie saw what seemed to be a tragically handicapped 26 year old double above knee and above elbow amputee and she screamed out in disbelief" You're all lying! It is still, 2004 and you are just trying to keep me from going insane. She was then shown a series of newspapers and magazines, all from this year of 2038 and all had weird type sets and the magazines seemed to be holographic 3D images jumping out at her! She was also shown a news p: program again with weird events which included the most shocking thing of all: her boyfriend's best friend who used to tag along with them on their cast adventures WAS NOW PRESIDENT OF THE USA!!!!!!!!!

Kerrie gaped in astonishment as she saw her deceased fiancee
Andrew's best friend Stevie having his PRESIDENTIAL State of the
Union speech being broadcast on a now-standard issue HDTV wide screen
television and she now, as she looked closer, confirmed it was indeed
him, as the familiar scar on his cheek from an old bicycle accident
still displayed itself prominently on his left cheek. Kerrie normally
didn't pay attention to presidential speeches but this one captivated
her. She thought to herself, then couldn't help but exclaim
loudly, "How did this DORK get to be president!?". Kerrie liked
Stevie as a person, for sure, but would never have gone out with him
as he was so out of touch with everything in popular culture and just
seemed to be so fixated on every cast Kerrie and her old friend Lisa
wore and he would just stare all the time at them and endlessly try
to take pictures. He must have had 2000 or more photos of Kerrie and
Lisa in his collection, she thought.
She loooked down at her poor, decimated, abbreviated body, with
her leg stumps sitting like 2 balonies on the wheelchair seat and she
longed for the old view of plaster going from her thighs to her toes.
So, feeling somewhat emboldened and calmer now with a pont of
reference, knowing the actual PRESIDENT of the USA personally, she
asked her assigned personal assistant, "when do I get my new legs?
And, will I get to meet the president now that he gave his personal
OK for this project?" the PA, named Sarah, turned and said with a
very cheerful smile, "I'm so glad you asked about that! President
Thomas assigned me personally to you at his own White House expense
budget, because of certain things you and I have in common. I must
have worn about 250 casts myself just for fun so I know exactly how
you feel to have the sensation of restricted mobility instead of that
void feeling of nothing even being there. President Thomas is going
to be paying us a visit tomorrow, and believe it or not, he is the
first president of this country to be a bachelor!"
At that very instant a very unusual fantasy played itself in
Kerrie's mind and she shook her head to snap out of it. She was
actually imagining herself getting married to President Thomas amidst
all the presidential pomp and circumstance! She jarred herself awake
to come to the realization that she was being lifted from her
wheelchair onto a gurney to be prepared for surgery.

As Kerrie was being prepped with the IV lines and the markings made on her limbs for the incisions, the chief surgeon of the hospital came into the operating theater and announced, the President is here to visit! Within seconds, the Secret Service team entered to secure the area, and shortly behind them was the President, Steven Thomas, or Stevie as Kerrie always knew him. As he entered, Stevie thought to himself, here I am, the most powerful man on the planet, and I can't even control my own organ! He grimaced at the thought momentarily, as as quick as the thought came and went, the old goofy grin that Kerrie was so familiar with came on to the President's face. All of his assistants who noticed it wondered to himself, as did Kerrie herself, "is our President reverting to his old dorkiness". After all, it is often said, you can take a man and make him President, but you can't make him a new person. Stevie looked over at Kerrie admiringly as she always did, and then did what many was impossible, he lost his composure totally and his voice started squeaking as it often did whenever he became nervous or excited. The words came out in a high pitched manner which made everyone in the room laugh, from the surgical assistants up to the Secret Service men! "How are you, feeling, Kerrie?" Kerrie smiled the best she could and feigned being honored in the President's presence, even though it still was the same old dorky Stevie and both mutually knew it! I have to make him look good, Kerrie thought, and she winked and whispered in his ear, remember, you're the President now" He somehow regained his composure and his familiar deep voice and said, as the cameras of the news media continued rolling, "May God bless you and grant you a full recovery as anyone could ever hope for". Kerrie thanked him and he kissed her cheek.
Kerrie was then wheeled over to the operating table and the President and his team departed with all the press behind them all talking in wonderment and speculation. Little did they realize that their wildest guess as to the cause of the president's puzzling behavior was going to become more accurate than they ever thought. Before the anesthesia was administered to Kerrie, she was introduced to her new limbs. "They look exactly like my old ones, they are absolutely beautiful!" Kerrie gushed. "And guess what, said the chief surgeon, Dr Walton, "these limbs won't atrophy because of the new muscle regenerating technoloy we built into them thanks to Applied Continuous Electric Muscular Stimulation. Remember the old days when you had to have the device strapped on outside each limb? Thanks to nanotechnology we can insert a component into each muscle, which will enable you to wear casts continuously and you will never lose your muscle tone or strength!" Upon hearing this, the expression on Kerrie's face looked like that of a little girl on Christmas Day opening her presents!
Kerrie was sedated and the operating crew went to work. Incisions were made in each limb's end, and all the veins, arteries, muscles and nerves were attached, perfectly versus only somewhat in the olden days of early limb reattachment surgery, the limbs were sutured in a very fine manner to reduce scarring, and a full body cast was applied to Kerrie, from her ankles to her shoulders and down to her wrists, Her feet and hands were allowed to be free to enhance the muscle regeneration and to monitor circulation.
Meanwhile, the media frenzy concerning the President's new-found squeaky voice was highlighted in every newspaper, despite a devastating war in the Middle East between the newly aggressive Russian military machine and all the countries south of it and a crushing near-depression in the American and European economies. "President Squeaky!" or similar funny headers made the headlines on half of all the American and European newspapers and magazines, finally providing everyone a much needed laughing respite from their continuous
